Ground-breaking ceremony at "In den Fichtlerswiesen" - Start of construction work on the Microverse Center at Friedrich-Schiller Universität, Jena

With cost acumulating to 2,3 million, about 2,2 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the site "In den Fichtlerswiesen" in Jena has been developed as an expansion of the Campus at Beuthenberg. The site, which has been newly developed with regard to media and traffic, will be used to locate new fields of research. On 26.08.2022, on the last vacant construction site at "in den Fichtlerswiesen", the constructive work on the new build Microverse Center Jena was officially started with a groundbreaking ceremony.

At the new research centre, scientists will be researching on micoorganisms and their relation to the environment, combining the fields of micobiology, infection biology, bioinformatic and medicine. The new build is financed with resouces from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Freestate of Thuringia and a co-payment of the Friedrich-Schiller University. Completion of the constructing work and starting up of the Micoverse Center Jena ist scheduled for 2024.
