Opening of New Building for Fraunhofer Institute in Ilmenau

25 Million Euro Investment / Tiefensee: Strengthening of Thuringia as a Location for Measurement and Systems Engeneering 

On Sptember 1st, Thuringia's Minister for Economic Affairs, Wolfgang Tiefensee, together with Professor Dr Reimund Neugebauer, President of the Fraunhofer Society, officially opened the new building of the Fraunhofer Institute in Ilmenau. In the new building the Fraunhofer Institutes for Optoelectronics, Systems Engeneering and Image Analysis - Istitute brach of Applied Systems Engeneering (IOSB-AST)- as well as the department for Electronic Measurement and Signal Analysis (IIS-EMS) - will be based together. The building was constructed between 2015 and 2021with only litte overrun of the anticipated building time. The total cost is 25 millon Euro, of which the county contributet 10 millions via the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The remaining 15 million were shared by the county and the state.
